We are seeking a Staff, State and Local Tax Services, to join our State and Local Tax Services team. They'll assist with the completion of various State and Local Tax (SALT) engagements. To do this, the incumbent will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of each client's business and related needs.

Responsibilities are, but not limited to
  • Learn and become proficient in State and Local tax, which includes, but is not limited to, sales and use tax, personal property tax, real estate property tax, unclaimed property, as well as gross receipts taxes.
  • Interact with clients to gather information, resolve state & local tax related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
  • Research specific state & local tax matters, apply the research to client specific facts and circumstances, and document conclusions/recommendations in writing.
  • Compile and analyze large amounts of data for sales & use tax refund analysis, including reviewing client's accounts payable invoices for overpayments of sales and use tax.
  • Work with our clients to analyze their sales and use tax nexus requirements and assist in the remediation of existing issues. This may include preparing and administering voluntary disclosure agreements with jurisdictions or assisting with process improvement issues identified during our review.
  • Assist in defending our clients in multi-state sales and use tax audits.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for our clients.
  • Prepare and file annual personal property tax returns for our clients.
  • Analyze previously filed personal property tax returns for refund opportunities. If refunds are identified, assist with the preparation of amended returns.
  • Prepare and file annual unclaimed property reports for our clients.
  • Assist with the review and analysis of our client's real estate tax assessments for reductions opportunities. The ideal candidate must:
  • Have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Have 1-2 years of accounting related experience in either public accounting or private industry.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills to lead meetings with business unit executives.
  • Obtain, analyze, and evaluate evidentiary data to form an objective opinion.
  • Have project management experience includes the ability to manage multiple assignments and demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills to meet established budget and milestones.
  • Possess unwavering integrity and ethics.
  • Cultivate strong collaborative working relationships and contacts within work groups.
  • Be flexible and able to adapt to changes in the work environment including delays or unexpected events.
  • Have a CPA license or be a candidate (preferred).
