About the Opportunity A growing insurance organization is seeking an Associate Director of Tax Accounting to join its tax leadership team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing tax accounting, tax reporting, and compliance activities while partnering closely with Accounting, Finance, and senior leadership. This role requires direct insurance tax experience. Candidates must either come from a Big 4/public accounting background with significant insurance clients or have worked directly within the tax function of an insurance company. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions under both GAAP and Statutory accounting
  • Support federal, state, and local income tax compliance and reporting
  • Manage insurance premium tax filings and related reporting requirements
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax accounting processes
  • Analyze tax implications of business transactions and strategic initiatives
  • Partner with Accounting and Finance teams on tax-related reporting matters
  • Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
  • Research and interpret tax regulations impacting insurance operations
  • Identify process improvements and drive tax reporting efficiencies
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the tax team Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA required
  • 5-10 years of relevant tax experience
  • Direct insurance tax experience is required
  • Experience with:
  • Federal income tax
  • State and local tax (SALT)
  • Insurance premium tax
  • GAAP tax accounting
  • Statutory tax accounting
  • Strong understanding of insurance industry tax regulations and reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
