Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Sr. Tax Specialist to join a public accounting team, supporting a diverse client portfolio across individual, fiduciary, and business returns. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to compliance work, planning initiatives, and client advisory projects in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple deadlines while maintaining a high standard of service.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review federal and state tax filings for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations, ensuring completeness and accuracy across a range of return types.
  • Support tax planning efforts by assisting with projections, evaluating planning opportunities, and contributing to year-end advisory recommendations.
  • Research tax issues, interpret applicable guidance, and document findings in a clear and well-supported manner.
  • Work directly with clients to obtain financial records, clarify outstanding questions, and keep engagements moving efficiently.
  • Coordinate with team leadership and team members to deliver tax projects on schedule and in line with quality expectations.
  • Organize and maintain thorough workpapers that align with quality standards and internal documentation practices.
  • Oversee multiple assignments at once, adjusting priorities as needed to meet filing deadlines and client commitments.
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent designation preferred, or active progress toward one of these credentials.
  • Hands-on experience preparing tax returns for individuals, fiduciaries, and business entities.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state tax compliance rules and reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with tax planning concepts, projections, and advisory support activities.
  • Proficiency with tax software such as Lacerte, UltraTax, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and a client-focused approach to managing requests and resolving issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
