Job Description

Job Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the Sales & Use Tax compliance process, maintaining business license files, assisting with Sales & Use tax audits, personal property filings, and other miscellaneous tax tasks.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain and update all permanent location and jurisdiction files, Sales Tax tracking sheets, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales & Use tax return files. Prepare and maintain all business licenses accurately and timely as required by taxing jurisdictions to ensure all filing deadlines are met. Assist with data collection, reports, and documentation for Sales & Use tax audits. Prepare, process, and review Sales & Use tax returns and payments via paper and electronic methods accurately and timely as required by taxing jurisdictions. Review use tax accruals and reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts monthly. Communicate effectively with state and local taxing authorities, all branch locations, team members including, management and other departments of the company as needed. Compile and submit Sales & Use tax accounts payable slips and journal entries to Accounting after appropriate approval. Submit Sales Tax and business license check requests to Accounts Payable, make copies of checks and tax returns/forms, and attach checks to Sales Tax returns/forms before mailing. Maintain and update state & local tax rates and location addresses in Sales Tax compliance software. Maintain electronic banking database for Sales & Use tax payments and communicate cash amounts needed for tax payments to appropriate personnel. Resolve Sales & Use tax notices of assessment in a timely manner as assigned. Amend Sales & Use tax returns as needed. Perform and maintain state and local Sales & Use tax, Gross Receipts tax, and licensing research. Work with third-party vendor for personal property filings. Identify, initiate, and support the continual improvement of quality and efficiency of processes and systems within the Tax department and PGN Auto Glass as a whole. Assume other duties and projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, and ensuring quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Hold weekly meetings with staff.
Basic Qualifications Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Accounting/Finance) Preferred Qualifications (Include qualifications that are desired but optional): 2-3 years Indirect Tax and Accounting experience in a corporate setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel. Experience with tax compliance software. Possess strong analytical skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Maintain strong focus on details, working with complex issues. Must demonstrate initiative, leadership, and the ability to communicate effectively. Possess strong work ethic and commitment to completing responsibilities. Understand legal organization, divisional and accounting policies & procedures in order to determine application of tax law. Analyze tax issues, related facts & circumstances, and recommend solutions. Research and interpret tax law and determine applicability to the company.
Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Office environment requires walking, standing, or sitting for several hours at time. Perform repetitive motion tasks on computer. May require occasional travel.
