Job Description
This position is part-time, on-site/in person We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax & Compliance Associate to support the ongoing tax and regulatory compliance needs of our multi-state home furnishings retail business. This part-time position will be on-site at our corporate headquarters located in Kennett Square, PA. We are seeking someone who is available 16 to 24 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Our corporate offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position will assist with preparing and filing state and local tax returns, maintaining business licenses, managing personal property tax filings, and supporting various compliance-related activities. The successful candidate does not need an accounting degree; we are willing to train an individual with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for learning. Key Responsibilities Prepare and file various state and local tax returns. Assist with sales tax filings and compliance activities across multiple states. Prepare and submit business license applications and renewals. Track licensing deadlines and filing requirements. Prepare personal property tax filings and supporting documentation. Gather financial information from QuickBooks and internal reports. Maintain organized tax and compliance records. Monitor filing calendars and ensure timely submissions. Research state and local filing requirements as needed. Communicate with government agencies regarding filings, notices, and renewals. Assist with special compliance projects and audits when necessary. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or relevant business experience preferred but not required. Accounting degree not required. Experience with bookkeeping, accounting support, payroll, tax preparation, or administrative compliance work preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Experience using QuickBooks is preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. #IND123
