Job Description

Business Tax SpecialistJob Overview We are seeking an experienced Business Tax Specialist to prepare and manage federal and Connecticut business tax returns for a diverse client base. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with corporations, S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and nonprofit organizations, along with a solid understanding of payroll, sales tax, and business accounting. Responsibilities Prepare and file federal and Connecticut business tax returns, including: Form 1120
  • C Corporations Form 1120-S
  • S Corporations Form 1065
  • Partnerships and multi-member LLCs Form 990
  • Nonprofit organizations Schedule K-1s Prepare Connecticut business tax filings, sales and use tax returns, and payroll tax filings.
Review financial statements, general ledgers, QuickBooks records, and supporting documentation for accuracy. Identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential tax issues and troubleshoot them efficiently. Provide business tax planning and guidance when appropriate. Assist clients with IRS and Connecticut tax notices, amended returns, and other tax matters. Maintain accurate and organized client records and documentation. Manage multiple client accounts while ensuring work is completed accurately and on time . Communicate with clients promptly and professionally regarding documents, questions, appointments, and the status of their returns. Stay current with federal and Connecticut tax laws and filing requirements. Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on business tax preparation experience preferred. Strong knowledge of federal and Connecticut business taxation. Experience preparing Forms 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and 990 . Strong understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, financial statements, and business tax preparation. Experience with businesses such as restaurants, gas stations, retail businesses, and service-based companies is preferred. Proficiency with professional tax software such as Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax , or similar platforms. Experience with QuickBooks . Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet filing deadlines. Professional communication and strong customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients efficiently. EA, CPA, or other relevant tax credential preferred but not required.
