Job Description

Half day Fridays through the summer, busy season that sits around 55 to 60 hours rather than open-ended weeks, and a team where you're visible early rather than waiting years to get meaningful responsibility. This Senior Tax Associate role sits in a growing 70 person firm that has been expanding steadily by bringing smaller practices together and improving how the work flows across the team. It keeps the work varied, gives you exposure to different clients and systems, and means you're stepping into an environment that is moving forward rather than standing still. You'll be preparing and reviewing a mix of individual, partnership, corporate and fiduciary returns, supporting book to tax adjustments, and helping guide staff associates through engagements. There's regular client interaction as well, with opportunities to start building relationships rather than staying behind the scenes. The client base is broad across manufacturing, professional services, logistics, real estate and not for profit organisations, so it suits someone who enjoys staying generalist and building technical range. Mentoring is part of the role from the start. You'll support associates day to day, review their work, and play a visible part in how engagements move forward while continuing to build toward manager level responsibility yourself. The culture is collaborative and energetic. It's a younger team where people tend to enjoy being in the office, work closely with partners, and progress based on contribution rather than waiting for a fixed timeline. There's clear visibility toward manager level for someone who wants that path. They're looking for someone with public accounting experience across business and individual returns, confidence reviewing work prepared by junior staff, and either a CPA, EA or active progress toward qualification. If you are just browsing the job boards and have not dusted off that resume yet, that is not a problem, you can give me a call first. You will find my number on LinkedIn. Search Lucy Weibel at Distinct North America. If you prefer, you can drop me a connection or message on LinkedIn and we can pick up on there. If you have reviewed this advert and you are unsure whether to apply because you do not have all the required experience, we still encourage you to hit that apply button. We support the CPA firms we partner with in building diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces, so even if your experience does not align perfectly, please do still apply. If this position is not quite right, it is highly likely we will have other public accounting positions that could be a good fit for you.
