Senior Tax Associate Robert Staudacher CPA & Associates PS Kirkland, WA Job Details Full-time $85,000 - $115,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Flexible schedule Paid sick time Qualifications Research Bachelor's degree Mentoring QuickBooks Full Job Description Job Overview We're a small CPA firm serving small businesses, families, and trusts, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Tax Associate to take ownership of complex returns from start to finish. You'll work directly with the partners and with clients, not as one small piece of a large team. We protect work-life balance with a hybrid schedule and flexible hours. We also promote on merit, with a clear path to Manager and Partner that moves faster than at the Big 4 or large regional firms. You'll work side by side with the partners, and we'll support your CPA and continuing education every step of the way. Duties Prepare federal and state returns for individuals (1040), trusts and estates (1041), partnerships (1065), and S corporations (1120-S), delivering near-final work with minimal review Handle multistate filings: apportionment, nonresident returns, and state tax credits. Prepare trust returns, including grantor and non-grantor trusts Work from client-provided records, such as QuickBooks files, brokerage statements, and bank activity, to build clean workpapers and tie out balance sheets Prepare rental and real estate reporting, depreciation, and basis schedules Research technical questions and draft clear explanations for partners and clients Assist with tax projections and planning, and respond to IRS and state notices Work directly with clients to gather information and resolve open items Grow into reviewing returns and mentoring staff as the firm grows. Skills and Qualifications 2+ busy seasons of tax preparation experience in public accounting CPA or EA preferred, or actively working toward the CPA Strong working knowledge of pass-through taxation: K-1 flow, basis, distributions, and reasonable compensation Familiarity with Washington B&O tax, capital gains excise tax, or REET a plus Proficiency with Thompson Reuters Suite Applications including UltraTax CS (preferred but not required), QuickBooks, and Excel Careful, organized workpapers that a reviewer can follow easily Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues Active PTIN, or able to obtain one before start Pay and Benefits $85,000-$115,000 base, based on experience and credentials Year-end bonus plus incentive bonuses Health insurance; dental/vision 401(k) with employer match PTO plus paid holidays; Washington paid sick leave CPE support CPA exam support: review course, exam fees, etc.
Hybrid schedule with flexible hours:
