Job Description

Senior Tax Associate Distinct Recruitment - 4.5 Houston, TX Job Details Full-time $85,000 - $95,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Profit sharing Health insurance Unlimited paid time off Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Work from home Parental leave Vision insurance 401(k) matching Opportunities for advancement Flexible schedule Life insurance Retirement plan Paid sick time Qualifications Public accounting Direct client contact Corporate tax return preparation Partnership tax expertise Accounting firm experience Full Job Description Senior Tax Associate | Houston | $85k to $95k 3+ years' Public Accounting experience | CPA eligible If you're at Senior level and starting to wonder what actually needs to happen for you to become a Manager, this firm gives you a pretty clear answer. Join, build your review experience, get closer to clients, take on more responsibility and progress. Simple enough. This is a growing mid-size CPA firm with a strong reputation across Texas, and they've built the team around giving people room to move rather than keeping them in the same seat for years. As a Senior Tax Associate, you'll work across Real Estate, Construction and Manufacturing clients, with exposure to Partnership, S Corp and C Corp returns. At first, your role will be a mix of preparation and review. Then, over the following year, the balance starts to shift. More review work. More client contact. More ownership. Less being the person quietly doing all the work in the background while someone else gets the interesting conversations. The aim is to help you move naturally towards Manager level rather than leaving you guessing what "progression" is supposed to mean. The hours are also pretty reasonable for Public Accounting. Busy season is usually around 55 to 60 hours, then it drops back towards a normal 40 hour week outside of peak periods. You'll also get 5 weeks of PTO, which is a lot more useful than unlimited PTO nobody feels comfortable taking. Benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, along with enhanced maternity and paternity leave. And because the firm is continuing to grow, there's genuine room to build a longer term career here rather than waiting for somebody above you to leave before anything changes. If you're looking for a Senior role where the next step actually feels visible, this could be worth a conversation. Hit apply and I'll be in touch. If your resume hasn't been touched since your last job search, don't worry about that either. You can find me on LinkedIn as Laura Serena Rose at Distinct North America and send me a message first. And if you match most of this but not every single point, apply anyway. Good careers rarely come from perfectly matching a checklist.
