Now you need the chance to prove you can lead the work. At some point, progression in tax has to mean more than a bigger stack of returns. You want to review. You want ownership of clients. You want junior staff coming to you for guidance. And you want to know that taking on more responsibility is actually going somewhere. This independent CPA firm in Frisco, TX around 20 people, is looking for a Tax Senior ready for exactly that step. The role is majority review focused, with responsibility for helping oversee a team of about 9 to 10 tax preparers. You'll also take on more ownership of client relationships and work directly with Partners who are invested in your development.
The intent here is clear:
they want to develop this person toward Tax Manager, not leave them parked at Senior indefinitely. What's different about this move Your role shifts away from constant preparation and toward reviewing work, solving problems, supporting your team, and keeping engagements on track. You'll have real responsibility for helping junior staff improve, rather than just quietly fixing their work yourself. You'll also become a more visible client contact, building the kind of communication and judgement that matters once you step into Manager level responsibility. And because this is a 20 person firm, you'll be working much closer to the Partners than you would inside a bigger structure. They're hands on, approachable, and genuinely willing to invest time in developing the right person. The role You'll review federal and state returns across individual and business clients. You'll help manage workflow and quality across a team of roughly 9 to 10 preparers, answering questions, offering technical guidance, and keeping the work moving. You'll be a key point of contact for your own client group, with growing ownership of communication throughout each engagement. During busy season, you'll help hold the line on deadlines and standards while supporting the people around you. This is still a hands on tax role. But your value increasingly comes from your judgement, your ability to develop others, and your ownership of the work, not just how many returns you can turn around. Who fits this This could suit an existing Tax Senior looking for clearer progression, or a strong Tax Associate already operating above their current level. You should have solid public accounting tax experience and be comfortable reviewing work and supporting less experienced staff. The firm is open to candidates who've completed their CPA or are actively working toward it. More importantly, you should want to progress into Manager level responsibility and be ready for a role that expects more than preparation alone. Compensation For strong Seniors still working toward their
CPA:
$75,000 to $85,000 For fully qualified CPAs with the right experience: $95,000 to $110,000 Start date: For anyone wanting to finish out busy season deadlines with their current firm first, a start after October 15th can be arranged. Why consider the move If you're already trusted with more than your title suggests, but your current firm can't give you a clear next step, this is worth exploring. You'll have responsibility for reviews. You'll help develop a team. You'll own client relationships. And you'll be working with Partners who are deliberately building this role toward Manager. That's a far more meaningful next step than simply becoming a more experienced preparer.
