SUMMARY:
The Payroll Tax Specialist monitors, manages and reconciles payroll taxes at employer and employee level. Includes reconciliation to the general ledger as well as ADP Tax Service reports, preparation and ensuring compliance with all state and Federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reconciles payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings by tax service provider. Manages filing of tax updates weekly. Monitors quarterly tax filings. Prepares headcount tax forms. Assist with multijurisdictional, travel and remote worker taxation Reconciles payroll taxes to the general ledger and book journal entries. Reconciles cash activity to Payroll and ADP Tax Services reports. Reconciles Payroll reports to 941s and W-2s. Reconciles payroll to the general ledger. Research and reconcile payroll taxes from prior periods. Researches and interprets federal and state regulatory requirements and resolves tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing. Performs quarterly and annual balancing of wage and tax reports Gathers and reports requested date to internal and external recipients. Stays current on changing payroll/tax legislation, while keeping the team and payroll manager informed. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external contacts for all tax related inquiries Performs quality assurance and other audits to ensure data integrity. Performs system testing to ensure the accuracy of automated actions and calculations. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree in business administration/finance or equivalent experience 3+ years' experience with payroll tax filings and compliance issues. Strong accounting skills, detail oriented, proficient in Excel Demonstrated success in ADP administration Experience reconciling and preparing W-2 forms. Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers and coworkers. Must have strong organizational skills and possess a keen eye for detail and accuracy Works within the constraints of timetables and schedules to meet all payroll deadlines and interprets and communicates Payroll and HR policies
