Job Description
Description We are looking for a Tax Advisor who wants to build a long-term advisory career in a public accounting environment. This position is designed for someone who enjoys client interaction, strategic planning, and relationship management rather than high-volume return production. You will join a collaborative team, develop into a lead advisor over time, and help business owners make informed tax decisions with confidence.
Responsibilities:
- Guide a gradually expanding portfolio of clients, beginning with a manageable caseload and growing into broader relationship ownership over time.
- Participate in quarterly and annual planning discussions with clients, then progress to independently directing those meetings as your expertise deepens.
- Advises small business owners on tax matters by turning technical concepts into practical recommendations they can act on.
- Review individual, S corporation, and partnership tax returns prepared by team members to support accuracy, completeness, and strategic alignment.
- Work closely with accounting and bookkeeping team members to ensure tax strategies are carried through correctly in day-to-day financial records.
- Identify planning opportunities involving entity selection, owner pay structure, retirement approaches, real estate coordination, and other tax-saving considerations.
- Strengthen client relationships through responsive communication, thoughtful guidance, and consistent follow-through on planning initiatives.
- Support the development of team members by sharing knowledge, offering feedback, and contributing to a strong advisory culture. Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in public accounting with hands-on exposure to tax planning, compliance, and client service.
- Working knowledge of individual, corporate, and partnership tax matters, including multi-state considerations where applicable.
- Experience reviewing or preparing returns such as Form 1040, Form 1120S, and Form 1065.
- Ability to research tax issues and translate findings into clear recommendations for clients and internal teams.
- Intuit ProSeries and QuickBooks or other tax software is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to lead conversations professionally and explain complex tax topics in straightforward language.
- Comfortable managing multiple deadlines, prioritizing client needs, and contributing within a collaborative team setting.
