Prepare data for month and period end reporting, involvement in routine jurisdictional audits, account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional tax rules, the audit of systems, processes and reports and various other product tax tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Prepare, file and pay federal, state, local and other jurisdictional tax returns and reports.
- Review and analyze various internal tax reports.
- Audit and examine the application of product tax profiles to ensure appropriate taxes are assessed and remitted for new and existing products.
- Evaluate and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Ensure appropriate record retention of tax information and reporting.
- Gather and prepare data for internal weekly/monthly reports by division showing volume, sales, weight and other product information in order to provide the data necessary to file the various tax returns.
- Scan and image various product tax documents.
- Collect and assemble data for routine jurisdictional audits.
- Manage deadlines, track tax returns and report completion.
- Draft correspondence as needed to tax jurisdictions.
- Perform and maintain internal controls to ensure accurate reporting.
- Communicate as needed and respond to questions from divisions and jurisdictions.
- Other duties may be assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of college education preferred.
- Four or more years of experience in accounting, tax, or other related work (additional college education may substitute for required experience).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Superior accuracy and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detailed oriented, with excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize, forecast and meet deadlines
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional and courteous manner
