Job Description
The DHS Accounting Specialist Sr. performs a variety of accounting procedures and bookkeeping duties under the DHS Accounting Supervisor and Human Service Director. Employees holding this position maintains the Social Welfare Fund, Agency Collection System, and Revenue Recapture information for auditing purposes. In addition, this position performs accounts payable, billing, and accounts receivable functions for all Human Services programs. Financial and Accounting Duties and Responsibilities Helps prepare financial statements for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. Assists with Auditors and prepares necessary documents for Annual Report. Maintains Social Welfare Fund, Agency Collection System, and Revenue Recapture accounts. Processes all payments, billings, and receipts for the various Human Services areas. Manages representative payee accounts. Designs new reports as needed in Carelogic using SQL. Completes quarterly Child Foster Care Report for the State. Issues Emergency Electronic Benefit cards to eligible recipients. Reviews monthly time records for Targeted Case Management reporting. Reconciles information between the Revenue Recapture and Agency Collection System. Additional Related Duties and Responsibilities Provides training and work direction to others. Maintains training and proficiency in a variety of computer systems including IFSpi, MMIS/MAXIS, SSIS, Carelogic, MN-ITS, ebtEDGE, and MEC2. While these are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as part of their role with the County. Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and methods. Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately. Ability to use computers and relevant software.
