Career Opportunity The city of Las Vegas invites applicants for Parking Support Technician . This position performs a wide variety of specialized administrative duties to support the Parking Services division, including assisting with citation and permit management, collections, and immobilizations. Supervision Receiv ed Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff. Examination Process A civil service examination will be conducted in accordance with the Civil Service Rules of the city of Las Vegas. The examination for this recruitment will be a written examination, weighted 100%, and will be used to place candidates on the eligible list. The eligible list will remain in effect for a period of 6 months from the date of certification and may be extended for a period of up to 2 years.

Selection Process Final candidate selection will include list placement and may include hiring interview (if applicable). Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test, complete background check, and may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for current and/ or future openings which may include part-time or full-time positions. Example of Duties Essential Functions Provides a wide variety of specialized administrative support functions to the Parking Services division. Enters data from various sources into spreadsheets or databases using a personal computer, including accounting, statistical and related information; inputs corrections and updates; verifies data for accuracy and completeness; retrieves data as requested. Assists with collection management for parking citations by providing weekly imports and exports of payments, updates, placements and write-off files; serves as the contact for account updates and discrepancies with the collection agencies. Generates monthly invoices for permit and validation accounts; includes account set-up, manual adjustments and reconciliation; manages suspensions and lock-outs of accounts for all City owned garages, on-street parking and leased surface lots. Processes parking citation adjudications; reviews dispute submissions to determine validity, completeness and course of action; serves as contact for updates and additional information and or documentation required by appellants; maintains adjudication calendar and serves as hearings clerk. Process refunds, credit card disputes, non-sufficient funds checks and bankruptcies; conducts audits of pending accounts; ensures accuracy of payment reversals or balance adjustments; communicates with collection agency and/or City Attorney Office when applicable. Review citation accounts to determine eligibility for immobilization; authorizes parking enforcement to deploy immobilization devices and completes final audit of financial records. Auditing of access to city owned garages; review of daily activation/termination reports, modify accounts for accuracy, research and respond to internal and external clients; performs audits on monthly permit parking to include government, media and administrative exempt permits. Purchases routine items such as office supplies, business cards and specialized items for the work unit; performs required processing of related documentation; maintains adequate inventory of supplies and keeps storage area in order; processes surplus items. Operates a variety of office equipment including a multi-line telephone, two-way radio, personal computer, calculator, multi-function copiers, facsimile machine and document shredder; inputs and retrieves data and text. Performs a variety of record keeping duties, including creating and maintaining filing systems; researches and resolves discrepancies as needed; scans and indexes documents to convert to electronic storage; prepares files for scanning and off-site storage. May participate in records retention activities for work unit. Maintains the confidentiality of all internal and external customer information accessed during the performance of assigned duties. Marginal Functions Interacts with other work units, outside organizations, private firms and the general public to exchange information, and for other purposes. May be asked to provide non-English language translation, if qualified. Assist with training of new staff. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Minimum Requirements Experience Three years of increasingly responsible clerical experience. Parking operations experience preferred. Training Equivalent to graduation from high school. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Basic operations, principles, practices and procedures of the parking enforcement office. Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment. Techniques of filing. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Personal computer usage, including navigation techniques in a Windows-based environment at an experienced level. Common office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, email and calendar at an experienced level. Principles and techniques for providing customer service. Performing mathematical calculations. Principles and techniques of data collection, retention and record keeping. Maintaining confidentiality of customers' personal information. Learning to apply and explain outside agency (Department of Motor Vehicles), city and department policies and procedures. Learning specialized procedures required for parking enforcement. Compensation and Benefits - 2026 COMPENSATION Annual Base Pay Increases Negotiated as part of the collective bargaining process. Step (Merit) Increase - typically awarded on the anniversary date of hire, up to range maximum.

Retirement Benefit eligible employees participate in the Public Employees' Retirement System of Nevada (PERS). PERS, a statewide defined benefit plan, calculates retirement benefits based on 2.25 percent (current percentage for employees hired 7/1/15 and after)for each year of service, applied to the employee's highest consecutive 36-month average salary. PERS also requires that employees share 50 percent of the PERS contribution, which is implemented by reducing the city's salary ranges. The highest consecutive 36-month average salary is increased commensurate with the salary range reductions required by PERS. Deferred Compensation The city offers a 457(b) Plan which is a government deferred compensation plan similar to a 401(k) plan. It offers both pre-tax and after-tax savings and investment options. Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Employees are covered the first of the month following date of employment. Five medical plans, two dental, and two vision plans are available. City pays 100% of employee premium + 50% of dependent premium. Life and AD&D Insurance City provides $20,000 insurance at no cost. Additional voluntary life insurance and AD&D insurance available for purchase. Disability Insurance City provides a long term disability policy:
