Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Deputy Treasurer I to join the Treasurer's Office. Essential Job Functions:

Welcomes and assists the public by responding to questions and inquiries; accepts payments and issues receipts; processes all counter transactions; Balances cash drawer daily; Responds to written requests for information from verbal, written, fax, or email correspondence; Researches returned mail and identifies valid addresses for returned tax bills; updates account accordingly; Prepares groups balancing procedures and check scanning; Posts credit card transactions; Sets up Pro-rata payments Performs DMV Stops and monitors payment progress; Opens installment agreements for citizens and enforces the terms of the agreements; Scans check payments received over the counter daily and reconciles in the system; Educates taxpayers on how to pay online through the tax collection website; Answers a large volume of phone calls on a daily basis; Posts centralized receipts; Prepares a large volume of mail for shipping, receiving, and sorting; Manages and remits unclaimed funds to unclaimed property division; Mail and collect forms for vehicle fee exemption for fire and rescue personnel. Manage solid waste citations and takes action directed by County code. Train and serve as back-up for Deputy II.

High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Minimum of (two) 2 years related experience preferred. For advancement consideration to the Deputy Treasurer II position, the employee will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in the role of Deputy Treasurer I.
Required Knowledge and Skill:
- Ability to build effective working relationships with co-workers, banking and investment officers in the financial community, major credit rating agencies, and other public agencies and government officials;
- Possess strong written communication skills and be able to provide excellent customer service;
- Thorough knowledge of applicable State and Federal statutes, rules, codes, and regulations;
- Budgetary practices and terminology.;
- Financial recordkeeping and bookkeeping practices and techniques;
- Principles and practices of governmental accounting;
- Principles and practices of auditing financial documents and records;
- Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone;
- Ability to interpret, apply and explain applicable state laws, codes, and regulations;
- Ability to interpret, explain and apply principles and practices of general, fund, and governmental accounting;
- Demonstrate initiative and independent judgement within established procedural guidelines;
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and other programs, including Keystone is essential.
Certifications and licenses : Certified Deputy Treasurer required, or ability to attain certification within two (2) years from employment date.
