Job Description

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and client advisory for a portfolio that includes high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and closely held businesses. The Senior Tax Manager will oversee preparation and review of complex federal and state returns, deliver strategic tax planning, manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, and ensure timely, accurate filing and excellent client service. The role requires strong technical expertise, proven leadership in public accounting, and proficiency with major tax software platforms.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the tax engagement lifecycle for a diverse client base, including
HNW/HNWI
individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships (1065), S corporations (1120S), and gift tax (709) matters.

Oversee, review and approve complex individual (1040), fiduciary (1041), partnership (1065), S corporation (1120S) and gift tax (709) returns to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax laws.

Provide high-quality tax planning and advisory services to minimize tax liabilities and support client financial goals, including multi-state planning and international considerations when applicable.

Supervise, mentor and develop a team of tax seniors and staff: assign work, review deliverables, provide feedback, and manage performance and professional development.

Execute and coordinate technical tax research on complex issues, prepare clear client memos, and advise engagement partners on positions and risk management.

Serve as primary client contact for escalated technical issues, manage client expectations, and build trusted relationships with HNW clients and their advisors.

Implement and maintain efficient workflows and quality control processes to meet deadlines and firm standards; manage billing, resource allocation, and engagement budgets.

Coordinate with audit, wealth management and legal teams on integrated client solutions and respond to client inquiries and notices, including representation on examinations and audits.

Leverage tax technology to increase productivity: drive adoption and best practices for UltraTax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte and other firm systems; oversee electronic filing and document management.

Ensure timely filing, internal controls, and compliance with professional standards and CPA firm policies; assist partners with sign-offs and regulatory documentation.

QualificationsLicensed CPA strongly preferred; active license in good standing.7+ years of progressive public accounting experience in federal and state tax compliance and planning, with prior experience as a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager.

Demonstrated technical expertise preparing and reviewing 1040, 709, 1041, 1120S and 1065 returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates and flow-through entities.

Experience advising
HNW/HNWI
clients and coordinating with wealth advisors, estate attorneys and other professionals.

Proven track record of reviewing workpapers and returns, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring quality control.

Hands-on proficiency with UltraTax, ProSystem fx (ProSystem), Lacerte and common tax preparation and research tools; comfortable learning new tax technology.

Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple engagements.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, client-facing demeanor, and ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to non-technical clients.

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required; Master of Taxation or CPA exam completion is a plus.

High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality.
