Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our small, highly collaborative CPA firm. Our Tax Managers have meaningful responsibility for their clients and engagements while working closely with other experienced professionals in an environment that encourages collaboration, shared expertise, and professional growth. The Tax Manager has primary responsibility for managing tax engagements from planning through delivery. Responsibilities include reviewing complex federal, state, and local tax returns; researching and resolving significant technical issues; identifying and developing tax-planning opportunities; managing engagement workflow, budgets, staffing, and deadlines; and serving as a primary client contact and trusted advisor. Tax Managers also play an important role in developing Associates and Senior Associates through effective delegation, review, coaching, and feedback. They contribute their technical, industry, and client experience across engagement teams and participate in firm initiatives such as training, recruiting, technology, process improvement, and practice development. The position also provides increasing responsibility for expanding existing client relationships, identifying additional service opportunities, developing an external professional network, and participating in new-business development. Because we are a small firm, effective delegation is important, but rigid distinctions based on title are not. Managers should be willing to remain hands-on and perform work at any appropriate level when necessary to support their teams and meet client commitments. Qualifications Candidates should have significant professional experience in tax compliance, planning, research, and client service and be able to independently manage complex engagements and client relationships. Candidates should hold an active CPA license or be an attorney admitted to a state bar. Strong technical knowledge, professional judgment, leadership ability, client-service skills, and demonstrated ability to develop less-experienced professionals are expected. Tax Managers develop their own annual CPE and professional-development plan and review it with their advisor for suggestions and input.
Compensation:
Base salary: $140,000 - $170,000, annually, depending on experience, qualifications and CPA status.
