Job Description
Tax ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients. The Tax Manager will ensure accurate, timely tax return preparation and filing, supervise and mentor staff, identify tax-saving opportunities, manage client relationships, and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, proven leadership, and the ability to translate complex tax rules into practical guidance for clients.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee preparation, review, and timely filing of individual (Form 1040) and business tax returns (Partnerships, S-Corps, C-Corps).Lead tax planning engagements, develop tax-efficient strategies, and advise clients on tax implications of transactions and business decisions.
Supervise, train, and mentor tax staff and senior associates; assign work, review deliverables, and provide performance feedback.
Conduct complex tax research and apply federal, state, and local tax laws to client situations; document conclusions and recommendations.
Coordinate and manage tax provision and compliance processes, including estimated tax payments and extensions.
Serve as primary client contact for tax matters; build and maintain strong client relationships through timely communication and proactive service.
Represent clients before tax authorities and manage audits, notices, and inquiries in coordination with legal counsel when needed.
Implement and improve tax department processes, workflow, and quality control procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
QualificationsProven experience as a Tax Manager or similar senior tax role with responsibility for individual and business tax compliance and planning.
In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws for Individuals, Partnerships, S-Corps, and C-Corps.
Strong technical skills with tax research tools, tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSystem fx) and Microsoft Excel.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams, delegating work, and developing staff.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Tax or CPA/EA credentials are highly preferred.
