Job Description

Overview Kadant Inc. is seeking a Domestic Tax Manager to support the company's U.S. tax function, including corporate income tax compliance, tax provision, and related reporting activities. This position reports to the Senior Tax Manager and works closely with members of the broader tax and finance organization. The role is designed for a strong tax professional who can independently manage assigned responsibilities while contributing within a collaborative and highly experienced tax department. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities (Primary Ownership) Prepare and support U.S. federal and state corporate income tax workpapers and filings and coordinate with external advisors

Calculate estimated tax payments and extensions

Prepare components of the quarterly and annual tax provision under ASC 740

Analyze book-to-tax differences, deferred tax accounts, and state tax positions

Support state income/franchise tax compliance and nexus analysis

Reconcile tax-related accounts and maintain supporting documentation

Support divisions with sales and use tax and payroll tax with questions and audits Supporting Responsibilities (Contributor Role) Support responses to federal and state tax audits and notices

Support US divisions questions and audits of their sales and use tax and payroll tax functions

Assist with domestic tax planning and process improvement initiatives

Support tax aspects of acquisitions and integrations, as needed

Assist with SOX controls and tax process documentation

Collaborate with accounting, finance, and external advisors on tax-related matters Scope & Working Model Operates with ownership over assigned domestic tax processes and deliverables

Collaborates closely with the Senior Tax Manager and broader tax team on more complex or judgmental matters

Contributes to broader tax initiatives while developing additional technical and operational experience Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA (or actively pursuing)

6-9 years of relevant tax experience

Public accounting (Big 4 or similar) and/or multinational corporate environment, preferably with a manufacturing/industrial company

Strong technical knowledge of U.S. corporate income tax, federal and state compliance, and ASC 740 fundamentals

Strong analytical and organizational skills Preferred Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or related field

Experience with OneSource provision software Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information

Detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy

Ability to work independently while escalating issues appropriately

Continues developing technical and operational tax knowledge Compensation (Indicative Range) Base salary: $130,000 - $170,000

Target bonus: 10-20% Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
