Job Summary:

The Sales and Use Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring Client satisfaction for their engagements through review and quality control of deliverables. The Manager has a deep and thorough understanding of sales and use tax compliance reporting and filing nuances, is an integral part of onboarding and client setup, takes part in reviewing returns, reconciliations and confirmations as well as training, mentoring and supporting peers and colleagues within the team. This position requires a detail-oriented, highly motivated team player who willingly participates and leads projects around process improvements, automation and other initiatives. In addition, the Manager has prior experience with contracts, financial analysis, marketing and sales. Our compliance solution utilizes Vertex Indirect Tax Returns software and a customized web-portal.

Job Duties:

Maintains Client satisfactionAssists with and supports all sales tax compliance operationsProcesses tax returns, filings and completing reconciliationsReviews prepared returns and filing confirmationsLeads and manages projects such as process improvements, firm initiatives and amended returnsProactively develops and maintains relationships with both team members and clientsReviews and approves invoices as well as analyzes financial metricsActs as the primary lead and point of contact to new engagements and onboarding effortsMaintains contracts and participates in sales opportunities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises the day-to-day workload of SALT Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work productsEnsures SALT Senior Associates, Associates, and Interns receive proper training and support with all relevant tax software and proceduresEvaluates the performance of SALT Senior Associates and Associates and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional developmentDelivers performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for SALT Senior Associates, Associates and InternsMentors associates and seniors and provides training as necessary

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

EducationBachelor's Degree, requiredExperienceFive (5) or more years of experience in sales and use tax compliance, requiredExperience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis, requiredExperience preparing and/or reviewing sales and use tax returns, requiredLicense(s)/Certification(s)CPA or CMI certification, preferredSoftwareExtensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, requiredKnowledge of Vertex Indirect Tax Returns or other sales tax compliance solutions, requiredFamiliarity with Database software, Alteryx or Power Query, requiredLanguage(s)N/AOther Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to manage time and priorities effectively, completing tasks in a timely mannerProven track record of accurately reviewing and completing high volumes of work in a deadline-driven environment, while managing multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong problem-solving skills and ability to overcome challengesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSolid organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to meet project deadlinesAbility to multi-task successfully, working independently or as part of a teamExperience managing and leading teams of tax professionals, including delegating assignments as neededCapacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues and external clientsAbility to foster a collaborative team environment and contribute to the professional development of team membersExecutive presence with the ability to serve as the primary contact on assigned engagementsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with professionals at all levelsAdvanced knowledge of tax standards and their application to ensure efficient and effective delivery of tax servicesDetail-oriented and results-drivenDemonstrates sound judgment and effective problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and lead projects and engagement teamsSkilled in analyzing and developing more efficient processes and proceduresIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
