Job Description

Job Summary:
The Tax Manager, Transfer Pricing is responsible for advising clients of the tax implications relating to their business objectives, recommending alternate courses of action, as well as identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations. In this role, the Tax Manager, Transfer Pricing will be charged with marketing, networking and business development within his/her area of experience and specialization and recognizing potential changes in tax policy and applying new policies to tax compliance.
Job Duties:
ResearchCompletes financial analysis related to intercompany transactions to include an evaluation of industry data and financial data provided by the client to assist in the documentation of appropriate intercompany pricing policiesIdentifies when research is appropriate and frames issues to be researchedTax ComplianceEnsures clients are compliant with transfer pricing requirements and proposes a year-end transfer pricing review, if applicableAssists in determining appropriate transfer pricing methods under IRS regulations and analogous rules under the OECD Transfer Pricing GuidelinesEnsure tax engagement letters are adopted prior to engagement work commencingConducts detailed review of facts relating to transfer pricing and data and identifies basic, complex and advanced issues through the engagementConducts detailed review of transfer pricing analysis and reports on itManages engagement to achieve engagement metricsCompletes the project planning process and schedulingTax ControversyRepresents clients before any tax authority on contested issues, as appropriate, and with assistance and guidance from senior STS Transfer Pricing professionalsTransfer Pricing Consulting and Documentation ServicesDevelops, recommends, and implements appropriate transfer pricing methods (by type of transaction) to specific situationsPrepares planning/documentation reportsApplies transfer pricing regulations relevant to particular types of transactions when analyzing client business and financial data and identifies any issuesAnalyzes the applicability and implications of new regulations and reports those findings to STS Senior Director and/or Tax PrincipalRecognizes need to utilize other expert resources, internal and external, to assist with engagements, as neededIdentifies opportunities for additional consulting specialties and federal tax cross selling opportunities and presents possibilities to appropriate members of senior managementTax Provision and FIN 48Employs general principles in tax accounting and relevance of transfer pricing in tax provisionsApplies transfer pricing in the context of tax provisions and FIN 48Reviews tax provisions related to transfer pricingPartners with Assurance professionals to plan tax accrual reviews related to transfer pricingTax Related SoftwareUtilizes Caseware, GoSystems, tax research databases and other tax-related software in the completion of assigned tasksOther duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises the day-to-day workload of STS Transfer Pricing Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work productEnsures STS Transfer Pricing Senior Associates, Associates and Interns are trained on all relevant tax softwareEvaluates the performance of STS Transfer Pricing Senior Associates and Associates and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional developmentDelivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for STS Transfer Pricing Senior Associates, Associates and InternsActs as Career Advisor to STS Transfer Pricing Senior Associates and Associates, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
Bachelor's degree, requiredMajor in Accounting or Economics, preferredAdvanced degree, preferred
Experience:
Five (5) or more years of prior experience, requiredExperience working within a transfer pricing practice, required
License/Certifications:
N/ASoftware:
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, preferredPrior exposure to Go Systems, tax research databases and/or other tax-related software beneficial, preferred
Language:
