Job Description
Tax Supervisor Tax Supervisor Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor to lead client engagements, manage tax compliance and planning for individuals, partnerships and corporations, and mentor a team of tax professionals. The Tax Supervisor will ensure accurate preparation and thorough review of tax returns, provide high-quality service to high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), and keep the firm current on tax law and best practices. Key Responsibilities Supervise and review preparation of federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships and corporations to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manage tax engagements from planning through delivery, coordinating resources and timelines to meet firm and client deadlines. Provide tax planning advice and research complex tax issues for clients, including HNWIs, delivering practical recommendations and identifying tax-saving opportunities. Lead, mentor and develop staff accountants and senior associates through training, performance feedback and delegation of work. Conduct thorough review and quality control of tax workpapers and returns, ensuring compliance with professional standards and firm policies. Liaise directly with clients to gather information, explain tax positions and resolve tax notices or inquiries. Collaborate with partners and cross-functional teams on business development, client proposals and process improvements. Utilize tax research tools and tax software to prepare, review and document tax positions; maintain organized engagement files. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters in Tax or related advanced degree preferred. Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation highly preferred. 5+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience with demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing individual, partnership and corporate tax returns. Proven experience working with high-net-worth individuals and complex multi-entity tax situations. Strong technical skills in tax preparation and review (Prep and Review experience), including familiarity with tax research methodologies and software (e.g., Firm-specific software or equivalent). Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience, with excellent coaching and delegation abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and client-facing experience. Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines. Commitment to staying current on tax law changes, continuing professional education, and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
