Job Summary The Accounting and Tax Manager provides support for the SVP of Finance and Business Services and oversees the successful execution of the month end closing process including general ledger reconciliation accounts, accounts receivable, and other general ledger functions. Oversees of the day-to-day tasks of accounting professionals and remains hands-on in the execution of accounting functions as well as acting as a strategic thinker. The Accounting and Tax Manager also acts as Maptek North America's tax expert focusing on US and Canada entities ensuring timely, accurate and compliant tax calculations, preparation, and filing. Provide guidance to the company maximizing retained cash and minimizing taxes/penalties/interest/audit risk. This position will focus on federal, state/provincial, and local jurisdictions. This position will be a combination of both strategic and in the weeds detail focus. The Accounting and Tax Manager is expected to serve as a model example of their profession, works with others in the department/company, facilitate timely/accurate work with tax authorities/partners, and timely monitor/resolve issues. Essential Functions Manage Accounts Receivable customer order to invoice including review of accounting staff work Revenue recognition, cost of revenue, and inventory accounting Fixed assets and prepaid accounting Complex general ledger transactions Payroll and calculations Income tax
  • ensure timely and accurate filings while partnering with the business to minimize taxes Sales and use tax
  • Ensure compliance with economic nexus evaluations including business licenses applications/renewals, periodic return filings (Avalara US), and systematized customer billing Foreign withholding tax
  • ensure proper prepayment documentation, ensure accurate withholding, timely remittance of withholding, and periodic reporting Domestic withholding tax

  • review and improve current foreign withholding recovery process. Transfer pricing
  • assist in maintaining North America and global reports Intercompany transactions
  • analyze for proper taxing actions prior to billing and payment Customer billings
  • ensure proper tax billing to clients Vendor payments
  • ensure proper tax billing from suppliers Property tax
  • prepare accurate declarations and file timely for compliance and minimization of tax Employment tax
  • ensure proper taxation and withholding in all employee jurisdictions, proper treatment of benefits related to W2/T4 reporting, and proper filing of employment returns (941/State Unemployment) Audits and notices
  • facilitate timely replies and/or resolution as received Tax law changes
  • stay current on changes and ensure company responds accordingly to changes Tax providers
  • work directly when necessary to improve compliance processes while minimizing their costs Organizes and maintains company tax records Enhance internal control processes and manage in an on-going manner Drive process improvements in the Business Services Department processes and procedures resulting in more efficient and effective action out results by the team Approach tasks, customers, and employees with a positive attitude Foster an environment of collaboration by engaging in teamwork and building relationships across departments Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Approach tasks, customers, and employees with a positive attitude Other duties as assigned Bachelor's degree in accounting required Tax experience in most areas noted above CPA/CMA/Masters in Tax a plus Five or more years in an accounting department with experience in overseeing the work of other staff members Advanced knowledge and aptitude in fundamental accounting principles Strong critical thinking skills, logic, reasoning, and the ability to solve problems effectively Advanced knowledge and aptitude in fundamental tax and accounting principles Intermediate to advanced competence in accounting software packages, Sage 100 experience preferred Maintains an attitude that promotes teamwork and cooperation Courteous and positive customer (external and internal) service Ability to liaise with and direct 3rd partiesExcellent written, speaking, and reading comprehension skills in the English language Ability to get along well with a diverse group of people, attitudes, and expectations both locally and internationally Ability to use MS Office and Google Suite Ability to deal with multiple, competing demands and prioritize appropriately while meeting deadlines Excellent active listening skills Demonstrate social perceptiveness•understanding other's reactions and how to deal with them Physical Requirements Able to sit for extended periods of time Summary of compensation and benefits Salary range: $100,000•$110,000 commensurate with experience and skills Profit sharing bonus, depending on business performance Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) with premiums paid by Maptek 401(k) with 3% matching contribution Life and disability coverage Paid holidays, vacation and sick time Position is hybrid currently with Wednesdays in the office Maptek is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
