Senior Tax Manager - Public AccountingStep into a premier leadership seat within our growing tax practice, where you will drive high-value advisory strategies, lead complex engagement teams, and work directly alongside firm shareholders on practice growth and client transition planning.

What you'll doOversee and sign off on complex tax engagements across corporate, partnership, trust, estate, and high-net-worth individual filingsServe as the primary trusted advisor to business owners, executives, and middle-market clients, delivering proactive year-round tax planning and value-creation strategiesConduct advanced technical tax research and document well-supported conclusions on multi-layered tax positions and transactionsManage IRS and state tax authority audits and controversies, representing client interests with technical rigorMentor, supervise, and evaluate engagement managers, supervisors, seniors, and staff, driving team-wide technical growth and professional developmentPartner with firm shareholders on practice development, client relationship expansion, and business development initiativesMonitor engagement economics, workflow efficiency, fee realization, and project timelines to ensure firm profitability targets are metWhat you need8+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firmActive CPA licenseProven track record leading complex business entity returns (1065, 1120, 1120S) and high-net-worth individual returns (1040)Deep technical expertise in year-round tax planning, transaction structuring, and advisoryOutstanding leadership, communication, and client relationship management skillsNice to haveMaster's in Taxation (MST) or LL.M. in TaxationExposure to fiduciary, estate, or trust tax returns (1041, 706, 709)Prior experience supporting business development, client proposals, and practice expansionPay & benefitsBase salary: $155,000-$195,000 per year, commensurate with experienceComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options401(k) retirement plan with firm contributionsGenerous paid time off (PTO) program and firm-paid holidays100% firm-sponsored continuing professional education (CPE) and professional association duesStructured leadership track and mentorship with direct access to firm shareholdersLocation & schedulePrimary offices: Troy, MI; Bingham Farms, MI; or Ann Arbor, MIWork model: Hybrid scheduleEmployment type: Full-time, permanentAbout & how to applyWe combine deep technical specialization with hands-on client advisory in a culture focused on collaboration, agility, and continuous growth.
