This position also mentors accounting staff and ensures the timely, accurate delivery of high-quality client service. Working closely with firm leadership, the tax and accounting services manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients on tax compliance, planning, and business matters. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with outstanding client service, leadership, and problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities Client Service & Leadership Review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, estate, and multi-state tax returns. Manage tax engagements from planning through completion, including workflow management, deadlines, budgets, billing support, and client communication. Identify advisory opportunities and provide practical recommendations to clients and firm leadership. Conduct and supervise technical tax research, analysis, planning, and documentation. Advise clients on federal and state tax compliance matters. Communicate directly with clients, financial advisors, attorneys, and taxing authorities regarding tax questions, notices, audits, and compliance issues. Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting Manage bookkeeping, accounting operations, and client financial reporting deliverables. Oversee month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of client financial records. Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring transactions are accurate, complete, and properly classified. Monitor accounting controls and ensure adherence to accounting standards and best practices. Team Development & Leadership Supervise, train, mentor, and review the work of senior and staff accountants. Collaborate with partners and staff to develop our tech stack. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning. Assist with staff development and coaching initiatives. Support recruiting and retention efforts as the firm continues to grow. Perform additional duties as needed Required Qualifications Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential Minimum of 5+ years of public accounting tax experience. Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation. Experience reviewing individual and business tax returns. Demonstrated tax research and planning experience. Proven experience mentoring and supervising accounting professionals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong client service mindset and professional judgment.
