Job Description
Tax Manager | CPA Firm Fort Worth, Texas | Hybrid $130,000 to $160,000 base plus 20% bonus CPA or EA required At some point, getting better at reviewing returns stops feeling like progression. You have probably already proved that you can handle the technical side of tax. The next step is getting involved earlier. Understanding what a client is trying to achieve. Helping shape the planning before decisions are made. Becoming someone clients call for advice, rather than someone who only sees the work once it reaches review. That is the opportunity with this independent CPA firm in Fort Worth, TX. They are looking for a Tax Manager who wants to stay technically strong while building a broader role across client relationships, planning, consulting, and leadership. Advisory work is part of the job here. It is not something reserved for Partners. What changes for you You will have more involvement with clients throughout the year, not simply when a return needs completing. That means conversations around future decisions, tax planning, changes within the business, and opportunities to help clients think ahead. You will work directly with firm leadership on planning and consulting matters, giving you greater visibility into how the firm approaches clients and makes decisions. And rather than spending the majority of your time moving work through the review process, you will have room to develop the judgement, relationships, and commercial awareness that become increasingly important as you progress. The firm also offers hybrid flexibility and is looking for someone it can trust to manage their clients, workload, and responsibilities appropriately. What you will be doing You will manage and review tax work across individuals and privately owned businesses, while becoming a key point of contact for your clients throughout the year. You will provide proactive tax planning and practical advice alongside the compliance work. You will contribute to consulting projects with the leadership team and take part in broader conversations around client strategy. You will also review work completed by junior accountants and help them develop, both technically and in the way they communicate with clients. As you get to know your clients, you will be encouraged to spot areas where additional planning, advice, or support could genuinely make a difference. Who could fit The firm is open to people currently working at Senior, Supervisor, or Manager level within public accounting. You will need a strong technical grounding in tax, confidence dealing directly with clients, and either a CPA or EA. More importantly, you should be interested in the thinking behind the work, not just getting it through the process. This could be particularly relevant if your current firm keeps talking about giving you more advisory exposure, but another year goes by and most of your time is still disappearing into compliance and review. It could also be a good move if you are already carrying Manager level responsibility and want your title, compensation, client exposure, and visibility within the firm to better reflect what you are actually capable of. Compensation $130,000 to $160,000 base salary plus a 20% bonus. Start with a conversation You do not need to match every point above before getting in touch. The firm is interested in technical ability, judgement, potential, and how you work with clients rather than finding someone who fits a rigid checklist. Apply through Indeed or call me directly on 972 807 7244 for a confidential conversation. I am usually available from 6:00am CST and again after 5:00pm CST .
