This one can. A Partner at this well established 25 person CPA firm is planning to retire over the next few years and is looking to transition their $1m book of business to the right person. This isn't just succession planning on paper. It's a genuine opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of an established portfolio and step into partnership without having to spend years building a book from scratch. If you're already operating at Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager level and have ambitions beyond simply managing returns, this is the sort of opportunity that doesn't come around very often. Of course, the opportunity only works if the day to day is somewhere you actually want to work. Thankfully, it is. You'd be joining a firm that has grown steadily without losing control of its workload or its culture. They don't wear exhaustion like a badge of honour. They run a well organised practice where senior people are trusted to do their jobs and still have a life outside of work. Busy season expectations are realistic. Mid February through March typically sits around 55 billable hours per week. Late April may occasionally reach around 60. Not 70. Not 80. No heroics. The work gets done, then life resumes. The role itself is broad and client facing. You'll be reviewing complex tax work, advising clients, managing relationships and supporting a stable team with very low staff turnover. You'll work closely alongside the Partner during the transition, allowing you to build relationships with clients well before taking ownership of the portfolio. There are no unrealistic business development targets. No unnecessary micromanagement. No culture built around watching the clock. Just good people doing good work. The firm believes autonomy is earned, then respected. The working model is primarily office based by design. One day of hybrid working is absolutely fine if that's what you prefer, but they genuinely believe mentorship, succession planning and developing future Partners happens best by working alongside each other.
