You know the Partners. They know you. You know your clients properly and you're not managing everything through layers of other people. That's pretty much what you get here. This is a smaller Cleveland CPA firm with a strong tax practice, working largely with high net worth individuals and privately owned businesses. They're growing, but quite deliberately. They're not taking on every client that knocks on the door and then wondering why everyone is working 70 hour weeks six months later. That matters when it comes to busy season too. You'll still be busy. It's public accounting. But around 55 hours is a lot more manageable than some of the numbers I hear from Managers elsewhere. And once you're through it, Summer Fridays come back around too. As a Tax Manager, you'll have your own client relationships, review work, support the people coming up behind you and work closely with the Partners. There's room to keep progressing as the firm grows as well, without needing someone above you to leave before another opportunity opens up. I think this one would suit someone who likes public accounting and likes working with clients, but doesn't necessarily want all the layers that come with a much bigger firm.
