Job Description

The Personnel Consulting Group is seeking a Tax Manager for an established public accounting client in the Greater Dothan Area.
Location:
Dothan, AL (On-site / Hybrid Options) Reports to:
Tax Partners, Managing Partner Supervises:
Seniors, Staff, and Interns Salary:
$120,000 - $150,000 / year Job Summary The Tax Manager is expected to lead client engagements, perform return reviews, and mentor professional staff. Working directly alongside Tax Partners, you will serve as a primary client advisor, conduct strategic tax planning, and drive department workflow and quality.
Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Review:
Oversee federal, state, and local tax return preparation and review across corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, estates, and non-profits.
Engagement & Budget Management:
Manage project timelines, team workflow, realization rates, and engagement profitability across diverse client portfolios.
Client Advisory & Research:
Perform complex tax research, identify proactive tax-saving opportunities, and handle communications with tax authorities.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Supervise and train Senior Accountants, Staff, and Interns through direct feedback, coaching, and professional development.
Client Growth:
Build strong client relationships, identify service expansion opportunities, and participate in local community and networking initiatives.
Required Qualifications & Skills Licensure:
Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Experience:
5 to 8+ years of public accounting tax experience, including direct experience reviewing complex multi-entity returns.
Leadership:
Demonstrated history of managing tax engagements and supervising accounting staff.
Software:
Technical proficiency in CCH Axcess, Engagement, and Microsoft 365.
Communication:
Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax rules into practical client advice.
Key Job Factors & Highlights Compensation:
$120,000 - $150,000 target annual salary range based on experience.
Work Location:
Office-based in Dothan, AL, with flexible hybrid work arrangements as approved by leadership.
