Tax Manager - Public AccountingStep into a high-visibility leadership role at an established Dayton CPA and financial advisory firm, where you will manage complex client engagements, mentor rising tax professionals, and work directly alongside firm partners on strategic growth.

What you'll doReview and sign off on complex federal, state, and local tax returns across corporate, partnership, trust, estate, and high-net-worth individual engagementsServe as the primary relationship owner for a diverse portfolio of middle-market business clients, delivering proactive year-round tax planning and advisory solutionsEvaluate and resolve IRS and state tax authority notices, representing client interests with technical rigorConduct specialized technical tax research, authoring well-supported memos to guide internal teams and client decision-makingLead, mentor, and evaluate tax seniors and staff accountants - providing constructive, real-time feedback that drives professional growthCollaborate with shareholders and senior leadership on practice development, client proposals, and strategic consulting engagementsOversee engagement economics, workflow scheduling, budgets, and project timelines to ensure on-time deliveryWhat you need5+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firmActive CPA licenseStrong technical background reviewing business entity returns (1065, 1120, 1120S) and individual returns (1040)Proven track record managing client relationships independently and delivering advisory-level guidanceProficiency with modern tax preparation, research, and workflow platforms (e.g., UltraTax CS, CCH Axcess, or GoSystem)Nice to havePrior experience supervising or mentoring tax staff in a public accounting settingExposure to estate, trust, or fiduciary tax returns (1041, 706, 709)Industry experience with privately held businesses, manufacturing, real estate, or closely held enterprisesPay & benefitsBase salary: $120,000-$160,000 per year, commensurate with experienceComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage401(k) retirement savings plan with firm contributionsGenerous paid time off (PTO) program and paid firm holidays100% firm-paid continuing professional education (CPE) and professional license/membership duesClear, structured pathways for advancement toward firm leadershipLocation & schedulePrimary office: Dayton, OHWork model: Hybrid schedule | Full-time, permanentAbout & how to applyWe pair deep technical expertise with tailored advisory services, cultivating a collaborative culture that invests in professional growth and long-term client success.
