Job Title Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager Job Description About Us We are a well-established, boutique accounting firm experiencing exciting momentum. Our firm is actively expanding through both organic client acquisition and strategic firm acquisitions. We offer the close-knit, supportive culture of a small shop paired with the career growth potential of a fast-growing company. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and personable Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager (title dependent on the candidates experience) to take on a higher-level role within our growing firm. This position is ideal for someone who can manage complex tax work, develop strong client relationships, support and mentor staff, and help strengthen internal processes as the firm continues to expand. We are looking for a long-term team member who can grow with the business and potentially become a future leader within the firm. The position is hybrid and in office time could be at locations in Maryland and New Jersey.
Key Responsibilities Tax Review and Compliance:
Prepare and review routine to complex federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and other business entities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion.
Client Advisory and Relationship Management:
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, provide practical tax guidance, explain planning opportunities, and build long-term trusted advisor relationships.
Planning and Strategy:
Identify tax planning opportunities, assist with projections, support entity structuring discussions, and help clients make informed financial and business decisions.
Team Development:
Review work prepared by staff accountants, provide coaching and technical feedback, help answer questions, and contribute to the continued development of junior team members.
Workflow and Process Management:
Help manage deadlines, organize workload during tax season, improve internal procedures, and support consistent delivery of high-quality client service.
Growth and Acquisition Support:
Assist with onboarding new clients gained through organic growth and firm acquisitions, helping integrate client information, processes, and service expectations smoothly.
Leadership Potential:
Take ownership of projects, demonstrate sound judgment, contribute ideas for firm improvement, and show the ability to grow into a broader leadership role over time.
Qualifications Experience:
3+ years of public accounting experience with strong individual, business, and entity tax experience; prior review experience is preferred.
Credentials:
CPA license is strongly preferred, though experienced candidates actively progressing toward licensure may be considered.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency with tax preparation software, research tools, Microsoft Office, and related accounting technology.
Client Service:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and maintain strong client relationships.
Leadership Mindset:
A proactive, ownership-oriented approach with the desire and ability to grow with the business and potentially assume increasing leadership responsibilities within the firm.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
