Job Description

Tax Supervisor | $115k to $125k 3+ Years Public Accounting Experience Required Nearly 1,000 new client enquiries a year. And they still turn work away most weeks. That probably tells you more about this firm than me saying they're "growing". They've been around for over 25 years, working mainly with real estate investors, realtors and small business owners. Most clients stick around for the long term too. A big reason for that is the way they work. They're very education focused. Instead of just preparing a return, sending it over and appearing again next year, they actually help clients understand what's happening and what they could be doing differently. Which makes this Tax Supervisor role a bit more interesting than your standard review job. You'll still be involved in tax prep and review, but you'll also work directly with clients, talk through tax strategies and start getting much more exposure to the advisory side. Basically, less hiding behind a spreadsheet. More conversations. And if you haven't had loads of client facing exposure yet, that's fine. They don't expect you to arrive knowing exactly how they do everything. There's structured training around both the technical work and client communication, so you'll have time to grow into it properly. The career path is slightly different too. You could continue down the traditional technical Tax Manager route, or eventually move into a broader area management position and take responsibility for more of the business. There isn't really one predetermined route. If you're ambitious, they'll give you somewhere to take it. Busy season is typically around 45 to 50 hours, and anything worked above 45 comes back to you as additional PTO. You'll also get PTO, sick time, extra time around federal holidays, healthcare, a 401(k) and a competitive bonus structure. If you're starting to feel like being good at tax shouldn't just mean being given more returns, this is probably worth a conversation. Call me on 512 647 2214. No polished resume needed. I'll tell you what the role actually looks like, how the firm operates and whether it sounds like somewhere you'd enjoy working. Worst case, you decide you're perfectly happy where you are. That's still useful.
