Job Description

You can usually tell what a firm's really like on a Tuesday afternoon in March. Are people helping each other? Or blaming each other? Are managers planning ahead? Or constantly changing priorities? Is everyone busy... Or simply overwhelmed? Busy season will always be demanding. It doesn't have to feel chaotic. That's one of the reasons accountants join this firm. For more than 50 years, they've built a reputation for doing things properly. They've grown to around 140 people across three offices. Staff stay. Clients stay. Leaders are accessible. And whilst expectations are high, there's a genuine belief that people perform better when they're supported—not stretched to breaking point. Why accountants join this firm $95,000 - $110,000 salary 37.5-hour working week outside busy season Hybrid working arrangement Paid overtime or time off in lieu Clear progression towards Manager Direct access to Managers and Shareholders Established 140-person CPA firm with an outstanding local reputation Stable team with strong staff retention The role This is a genuine Tax Supervisor opportunity where you'll have the autonomy to run your own work while continuing to develop as a leader. You'll oversee client engagements from planning through to completion. Review tax returns. Support and mentor junior accountants. Build long-term client relationships. And work closely with Managers and Shareholders as you prepare for the next step in your career. The client portfolio includes individuals, closely held businesses and privately owned companies, offering technical variety without the unnecessary pressure that comes from poor planning and constant firefighting. Who this role is for You're probably at the point where your responsibilities have already outgrown your job title. You're reviewing work. Helping train junior staff. Managing client relationships. Taking ownership of engagements. Now you're looking for a firm that recognises your contribution and gives you the opportunity to keep progressing. Not because somebody eventually leaves. But because that's the plan. Requirements Public accounting tax experience Strong technical knowledge across individual and business taxation CPA preferred but not essential Enjoys developing people and building client relationships Looking for a long-term career with a collaborative firm The reality Some firms make every busy season feel like a crisis. Others make it feel like a well-managed business. This firm has spent more than five decades building the second kind. If you're looking for somewhere you can build your career without dreading every tax season, this could be exactly what you've been searching for.
