Tax Supervisor Business Tax Services Leesburg, VA Hybrid flexibility A promotion is only useful if the job changes with it. There are plenty of tax roles where progression means a new title, a little more reviewing and considerably more responsibility. This isn't supposed to be one of them. This Tax Supervisor opportunity in Leesburg, VA is a chance to start moving from being primarily a technical tax professional into someone who manages clients, develops people and begins building toward leadership. For an experienced Senior, it could be the step into Supervisor you've been working toward. For an existing Supervisor, the attraction is what comes afterwards: there is a clear path toward Tax Manager and future leadership opportunities within the firm . You won't spend your career hidden behind the returns. The technical side is important. You'll work across S Corporations, C Corporations, Partnerships and high-net-worth individual returns , reviewing workpapers and returns while researching more complex tax issues. But clients don't generally remember who completed box 14 correctly. They remember who gave them good advice when it mattered. You'll work directly with business owners and management teams, becoming a primary point of contact and building relationships that go beyond getting the annual return filed. That means getting involved in tax planning, consulting and strategic business matters , proactively communicating with clients and spotting opportunities where the firm can provide additional value. You'll have ownership without being left on an island As Supervisor, you'll manage several engagements simultaneously, keeping an eye on deadlines, budgets, workflow and resources. You'll also supervise and develop Staff and Senior Accountants, including: Reviewing their work Delegating assignments Providing constructive feedback Mentoring junior professionals Supporting onboarding and training You'll be doing all of this while working closely with Managers and Partners. There's also exposure to business development, networking and the commercial side of running engagements - useful experience if your longer-term goal goes beyond Manager. What are they looking for? You should have strong business tax experience, including preparing and reviewing more complex returns, and be comfortable managing client relationships rather than relying on a Manager or Partner to handle every conversation. Previous experience supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of others is important too. The next job should give you something the current one doesn't. Maybe that's the Supervisor title. Maybe you already have that and what you really need is a believable route to Manager. Or perhaps it's simply more client ownership, more leadership exposure and the chance to become known for something beyond being technically good at tax. Whatever the reason, changing firms should have a point. This one does. Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That's fine. Apply the old-fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I'll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments. I'm Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don't just look at job specs; I look at people, and where they'll thrive. It's not about filling gaps. It's about finding a fit that lasts. Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don't slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
