Charleston area well-established CPA firm is seeking talented Tax Manager to join their team. Firm serves a diverse client base including closely held businesses, partnerships, S corporations, corporations, trusts, nonprofits, and high-net-worth individuals. The Tax Manager oversees complex tax engagements while providing strategic tax planning and advisory services to businesses and individuals. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, excellent client relationship skills, and proven leadership experience within public accounting. This leadership role offers significant client interaction, technical tax planning and will require some tax preparation. Responsibilities Manage and review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, corporate, trust, nonprofit, estate, and gift tax returns Lead tax planning engagements for business owners and high-net-worth individuals Review work prepared by staff and senior accountants Research complex federal and state tax issues Develop tax strategies that minimize client liabilities while maintaining compliance Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously Serve as primary client relationship manager Mentor, coach, and develop junior tax professionals Assist with practice development and business growth initiatives Participate in budgeting, staffing, and workflow planning during tax season Represent clients before taxing authorities when necessary Stay current on tax legislation and advise clients on changes affecting their businesses Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting CPA preferred 7-15+ years of public accounting tax experience Prior supervisory or management experience Strong technical knowledge of federal and state taxation Experience with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals Excellent tax research and analytical skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities Proven client relationship management experience Preferred Experience Multi-state tax compliance Business succession planning Estate and trust taxation Mergers and acquisitions SALT (State & Local Tax) International tax exposure (a plus) Tax software such as UltraTax, CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar Leadership Responsibilities Mentor and develop tax staff Review returns for quality and accuracy Manage engagement budgets and deadlines Identify process improvements Assist with recruiting and interviewing Support partner-level client service initiatives Firm offers: Highly competitive compensation Performance and discretionary bonuses Flexible work arrangements (On-site, Hybrid, or Remote) CPA and continuing education reimbursement Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance 401(k) with employer match Generous PTO and paid holidays Busy season flexibility and work-life balance Clear advancement path toward Senior Manager or Partner Collaborative, team-oriented culture
Pay:
