A growing accounting and financial consulting firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to oversee an established book of business, lead a team of tax professionals, and help shape the continued growth of its tax practice. Key Responsibilities Manage and review individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns Oversee daily tax department operations, deadlines, and workflow Lead, mentor, and develop junior tax professionals and direct reports Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services Manage client relationships and deliver exceptional service Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Improve tax processes, procedures, and workpaper systems Support department growth and the integration of acquired practices Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and operational improvements Recommend innovative solutions that improve efficiency and the client experience Qualifications CPA preferred; Enrolled Agent credentials will also be considered Public accounting experience required Experience with a mid-sized regional accounting firm strongly preferred At least two years of management or direct-report leadership experience Strong knowledge of tax regulations and tax-planning strategies Experience reviewing complex individual, business, trust, and nonprofit returns Demonstrated ability to delegate work and develop team members Strong client-service, communication, and relationship-building skills Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, growing organization Strong leadership, integrity, judgment, and accountability Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can take ownership of the tax department, manage competing priorities, and help build a rapidly growing practice.
