The Nash Group P.S. was founded in 2020, building on a Tacoma-area legacy that dates back to the 1970s. Based in Fircrest, we serve contractors, real estate investors, and small business owners and are looking for an experienced tax professional to manage and grow their own client base. With a team of six full-time employees, we value collaboration, regular communication, and a strong team culture. This is an opportunity to work directly with clients, expand your book of business, and help shape the future of the firm. Job Overview You will own a book of about 300 clients, roughly 70 to 80 percent individual returns with the rest S/C corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates. The clients come from the owner and from a practice we recently brought into the firm. You sign the returns, you run the client meetings, and you are the person they call. As the year goes on, you will add work to that book and be responsible for what it produces. You will also review and mentor a small team of preparers, working alongside the owner and our Lead Senior Preparer. This is the first of two or three tax hires we plan to make over the next year, and the person in this seat is in line to lead the tax practice as we grow. We are looking for someone who is interested in building a team and helping us grow into multiple locations. Immediate opening. We would like you ready to go by the 2027 filing season. Duties Prepare, review, and sign individual, S/ C corporation, partnership, C corporation, trust, and estate returns Own client relationships for your book: meetings, calls, questions, notices, and planning conversations Grow your book by adding services for existing clients and bringing on new ones Review preparer work, give feedback, and help train the team Help us finish our move to Drake Tax and keep improving a fully paperless workflow Sit in on the Friday management meeting and have a real say in how the firm runs Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and effectively Strong analysis skills in account reconciliation, asset management, budget creation, and financial planning Requirements Enrolled Agent or CPA, active 5 or more years in public accounting tax work, with recent hands-on preparation and review You have signed S corporation, partnership, and trust or estate returns as the preparer of record, not only prepared them for someone else to sign You have been responsible for a book of clients You have reviewed other preparers' work and supervised at least one person You are comfortable in front of business owners explaining tax in plain language Strong with software and digital workflows: professional tax software, Microsoft 365, paperless document handling, and AI tools in day-to-day work Preferences Drake Tax or Lacerte experience (we run both today and are moving to Drake; Training on either is provided) Experience with contractors, real estate investors, or closely held businesses You have brought in clients yourself Benefits $110,000 to $135,000 per year, salaried, depending on experience and credentialsSIMPLE IRA
