Role OverviewThe Tax Manager will be responsible for managing complex trusts and estates tax engagements, reviewing tax returns, advising clients and fiduciaries, coordinating with attorneys and financial advisors, and helping ensure that client matters are handled accurately, professionally, and on time.
This role will involve both compliance and planning work. The successful candidate should be comfortable handling complex tax issues, communicating with clients and advisors, managing deadlines, and taking ownership of client relationships.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include:
Managing complex trust, estate, gift, fiduciary, and high-net-worth individual tax engagementsReviewing Forms 1041, 706, 709, 1040, and related state filingsAdvising clients, fiduciaries, attorneys, financial advisors, and beneficiaries on tax issuesIdentifying tax planning opportunities for estates, trusts, fiduciaries, and high-net-worth individualsSupervising, training, and mentoring preparers and staffManaging client relationships and serving as a primary point of contactCoordinating deadlines, document flow, tax notices, extensions, and year-end planningAssisting with practice development and long-term growth of trusts and estates tax servicesSupporting partners on complex planning, estate administration, and wealth transfer mattersQualificationsIdeal candidates will have:
Significant experience in public accounting, tax, law, or a closely related professional settingStrong technical knowledge of trusts, estates, fiduciary income tax, gift tax, and estate taxExperience reviewing complex Forms 1041, 706, 709, 1040, and related state filingsAbility to manage client relationships with professionalism and sound judgmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlinesInterest in long-term professional growth, leadership, and partnershipCPA with a master's degree in taxation, or JD with an LL.M. in taxationExperience with estate administration, fiduciary accounting, probate-related tax matters, charitable planning, or high-net-worth individual tax planning is a plus.
