No benefits offered About the Position Established CPA firm in Apollo Beach is seeking an Experienced Tax Preparer for a permanent, year-round position. This is an in-office, client-facing role averaging approximately 30 hours per week , with additional hours available and expected during tax season. We are looking for an experienced preparer who can meet directly with clients, conduct thorough tax interviews, prepare accurate individual income tax returns, identify missing information, and produce well-organized returns for CPA review. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking for a stable, year-round position with a consistent schedule and additional earning potential during tax season. Responsibilities Prepare federal individual income tax returns, primarily Form 1040 Conduct in-person client tax intake interviews Review prior-year returns and current-year tax documents Identify missing information and communicate with clients regarding outstanding items Prepare returns involving Schedules A, B, C, D, and E Work with W-2s, 1099s, brokerage statements, retirement income, Social Security, self-employment income, rental properties, K-1s, and estimated tax payments Identify potential deductions, credits, carryforwards, and tax issues Maintain accurate and organized workpapers Perform a thorough self-review before submitting returns for CPA review Respond to review comments and make corrections promptly Assist clients with tax questions in a professional and courteous manner Assist with extensions, amended returns, tax notices, estimated tax calculations, and other tax-related work throughout the year Maintain strict confidentiality of client information Qualifications Minimum 2 years of professional individual tax preparation experience preferred Strong working knowledge of Form 1040 and individual income taxation Experience preparing Schedules C, D, and E Experience conducting client tax interviews Ability to recognize missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information Strong attention to detail Excellent client communication skills Dependable, organized, and able to manage deadlines Comfortable working independently while knowing when to consult the CPA Experience with professional tax preparation software Active PTIN required CPA or EA designation is a plus but not required. Compensation & Schedule $28-$30 per hour , depending on experience Approximately 30 hours per week year-round Additional hours during tax season Tax-season performance/completion bonus Permanent position In-office position in Apollo Beach, Florida No employee benefits are currently offered Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is more than a data-entry tax preparer.
