We're looking for an experienced Tax Preparer & Admin to join our team. This position combines tax preparation with client service and tax administration. You'll prepare individual and small business tax returns while working directly with your assigned clients throughout the tax process - from the initial intake of documents through completion of their return. We're looking for someone with at 1-2 years of tax related experience. Please note that this is an in-office job and not virtual. What You'll Do Prepare 1040s, Schedule Cs, and basic 1120/1120-S tax returns for review Review client documents and identify missing information Introduce yourself to assigned tax clients and guide them through the tax document collection process Follow up with clients for documents, questions, signatures, and other outstanding items Maintain accurate client notes and workflow statuses Make updates based on Tax Manager review Follow clients from initial intake through completion of their return Prepare annual 1099 filings for bookkeeping clients The ideal candidate is comfortable learning new technology, enjoys meeting with clients, and has basic tax experience. Because we serve clients across the country, technology and communication are essential to how we work. A Typical Day No two days are exactly the same, but your day may include: Your day may include reviewing client documents, preparing tax returns, Calling or emailing clients for missing information, Working through Tax Manager review notes, and Keeping your assigned clients moving through the tax process. During year-end, you'll also prepare 1099 filings for our bookkeeping clients. Success in this role requires someone who takes ownership of their client work, communicates proactively, follows through on outstanding requests, and keeps projects moving rather than waiting for clients to respond. Position Requirements Required Tax, accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience/education Basic understanding of individual taxes and accounting concepts Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Comfortable communicating with clients by phone and email Ability to manage multiple returns, priorities, and deadlines Comfortable following established processes and learning new technology Ability to maintain confidential financial and tax information Ability to work independently and collaboratively Willingness to learn and incorporate feedback Ability to pass a background check Preferred Experience preparing individual, Schedule C, and basic business tax returns Experience with Drake Tax or similar tax software Accounting, Finance, Business, or related degree preferred QuickBooks Online experience a plus Experience working directly with clients Benefits Three weeks of paid vacation Paid federal holidays Health insurance 401(k) retirement savings plan Flexible scheduling within normal business hours
