Full time permanent position Full-time Reports to: Principal / CPA About the Firm We are a growing accounting, tax, and advisory practice serving roughly 300 small business and individual clients across multiple states. Our work runs deeper than seasonal tax prep: we handle year-round bookkeeping, entity-level tax planning, and hands-on advisory for closely held businesses. We use Drake Tax and work extensively with S corporations, partnerships, and multi-state filers. Position Summary We are seeking an Enrolled Agent with small business experience to be responsible for our book of business, prepare and review pass-through entity returns, and support our bookkeeping and client advisory work. This is a client-facing role for someone who is comfortable being the primary point of contact on tax and compliance matters — not just a seasonal preparer. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review S corporation (1120-S) and partnership (1065) returns, including K-1 allocations, basis tracking, and reasonable compensation analysis Prepare individual (1040), and related state and multi-state returns. Maintain and review client bookkeeping (monthly/quarterly/annual close, reconciliations, adjusting entries, financial statement prep). Handle payroll-related filings and small business compliance as needed. Represent clients before the IRS and state tax authorities on notices, and resolution matters. Provide proactive tax planning and advisory to closely held business owners Communicate directly with clients — answering questions, gathering documents, and setting expectations. Stay current on federal and multi-state tax law affecting pass-through entities and small businesses. Required Qualifications- Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential in good standing
- 3+ years preparing small business returns (S corp & partnership).
- Solid working knowledge of bookkeeping and accrual/cash-basis
- Comfort with tax software (Drake Tax experience a strong plus), Zero & QB
- Excellent written and verbal communication; enjoys working directly with business owners. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple client deadlines Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-state tax compliance experience
- Payroll and sales/use tax familiarity
- Experience in a small or mid-size firm environment
- Familiarity with entity structuring, S elections, and basis/at-risk rules What We Offer
