ICESS Variety Shop is seeking an experienced, dependable Tax Professional for the 2027 tax season. This position requires an active IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) and prior professional tax-preparation experience. The ideal candidate understands federal and state tax preparation, IRS due-diligence requirements, taxpayer confidentiality, accurate documentation, and professional client service. This is a hybrid position with required in-person training and scheduled office availability in Atlanta, Georgia.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare accurate federal and state individual income-tax returns Review W-2s, 1099s, self-employment income, deductions, dependents, credits, and supporting documentation Conduct professional client interviews and ask appropriate follow-up questions Determine filing status and taxpayer eligibility for deductions and credits Complete all required IRS due-diligence documentation, including Form 8867 when applicable Obtain required taxpayer signatures, authorizations, and Form 8879 before electronic filing Verify taxpayer identity, banking information, and return information before submission Identify incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially fraudulent information and escalate concerns before filing Explain tax returns, filing results, and general next steps clearly to clients Correct rejected returns and assist with amendments or client notices when assigned Maintain complete, accurate, organized, and quality-review-ready client files Protect Social Security numbers, financial records, banking information, and all taxpayer data Follow IRS e-file rules, Internal Revenue Code Section 7216, and ICESS privacy and security procedures Use only approved software, devices, networks, email, and document-storage systems Respond promptly to quality-control reviews and correct identified issues Provide respectful, confidential, and dependable client service
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

for the applicable filing season Previous professional tax-preparation experience Working knowledge of current federal and state individual income-tax laws Experience preparing common individual returns, including Form 1040 and related schedules Knowledge of IRS due diligence, recordkeeping, privacy, and data-security requirements Ability to review tax documents carefully and recognize missing or inconsistent information Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management Professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain strict taxpayer confidentiality Ability to complete required training, simulated cases, competency review, and onboarding Ability to work independently while following ICESS quality-control and compliance procedures Willingness to complete mandatory one-on-one, in-person training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using TaxWise Online or similar professional tax-preparation software Experience preparing Schedule C, self-employment, dependent, education-credit, and itemized-deduction returns Familiarity with IRS Forms 8867 and 8879 Experience resolving rejected electronic returns and identifying common filing errors Strong customer-service and client-interviewing experience
WORK ARRANGEMENT

Atlanta, GA 30354 location Candidates must complete PTIN verification, required tax-law and software training, security training, onboarding documentation, supervised simulated cases, and ICESS competency review before receiving access to taxpayer information or live client returns.
