We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax preparer with strong technical expertise in bookkeeping and individual/business tax preparation. The ideal candidate is confident working independently, committed to accuracy, and comfortable managing multiple client files throughout the year. Responsibilities As a Tax preparer, you'll support both our clients and our internal team through work that truly matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
Prepare accurate federal and state income tax returns for individuals and businesses Review financial records, including income statements and expense documentation, to determine required forms Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations Identify potential tax credits, deductions, liabilities to maximize client benefits Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates throughout the preparation process Assist with resolving client tax issues Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations Return volume is around 200 returns between business and individual Returns are reviewed by a tax reviewer before filing each return Job Qualifications We're looking for someone who embodies both technical skill and heart—someone who wants to genuinely help entrepreneurs thrive. You are a strong fit if you have: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance Minimum of 2 years tax preparation experience (public accounting experience preferred) Strong understanding of tax law, regulations, and compliance requirements Proficiency with ProConnect and Drake tax software and Microsoft Office tools Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction CPA or EA credential is a plus but not required This position begins with a 3-week paid trial period, allowing us to experience how we work together and evaluate fit.
