$80,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience Job Summary Padgett Syracuse - Wasatch Front is seeking an experienced, credentialed Tax Preparer to join our team in a full-time, year-round capacity. This is an individual contributor role focused exclusively on tax preparation and client advisory support Padgett helps small business owners transform accounting and tax into clarity, confidence, and genuine peace of mind. This position is well-suited for a tax professional who takes pride in accuracy and dependability, values long-term client relationships, and is motivated by the direct impact their work has on the financial health of small businesses and entrepreneurs. The candidate must work well under pressure, is self-motivated and detail-oriented. Supervisory Responsibilities This position carries no supervisory responsibilities. Primary Responsibilities Prepare individual and business tax returns, with a workload split of approximately 60% individual and 40% business; limited multi-state exposure Support off-season client needs, including tax projections, reasonable compensation analyses, and tax notice research and resolution Understand financials and make corrections as needed Conduct tax research as needed to address complex or non-routine filing scenarios Communicate with clients through a variety of channels including secure client portal, e-mail, telephone, and video conference Maintain organized and accurate client files in accordance with firm standards and applicable compliance requirements Qualifications Minimum of five (5) years of recent, progressive experience in a public accounting firm Active CPA or EA license required Deep knowledge of individual, corporate, and partnership taxation Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with clients and colleagues Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, accessible guidance for clients Proficiency with tax preparation software, accounting platforms, and standard business applications; experience with UltraTax preferred Knowledgeable in QBO, Xero is helpful Strong organizational skills and keen to attention to detail Professional Demeanor and commitment to delivering a high-quality client experience Physical Demands The physical demands outlined in this description are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
