We keep the books for about forty operating businesses, year round. In January, we open a tax office. You would be the first hire. You sign the returns. You report to me. The Work You sign every return that leaves. 1065, 1120-S, 1120, multi-state, rentals, K-1s. The complex work comes to you. Form 8867 file on every earned income credit, child tax credit, American Opportunity credit, and head of household return. Three to five seasonal preparers to train and review. Books quality note on every business return. We tell someone the 14th, it goes out the 14th. Decline work that falls outside our published scope, at the desk. Working With Clients Half this job is sitting across from somebody. Most people who walk in think they did something wrong, and a lot of them were handed to a temp at a chain last year. I need someone who can say "you owe $4,200, here is why, and here is what to change next year" in plain language. You will get a real fact pattern in the interview. Required PTIN in your own name, or eligible to hold one before you start. Five seasons preparing returns for pay. Two of them on entity returns. You have signed as paid preparer and you have reviewed somebody else's work. Background check. You will be handling Social Security numbers all day. Saturdays, late January through April 15. Preferred Enrolled Agent. That is the one I want. It buys us representation rights we do not have. Schedule C and small business clients. Construction, real estate, auto, e-commerce. Spanish If you are a CPA We are not a CPA firm. No audits, no reviews, no compilations, and I am not adding them. You would be preparing and reviewing returns, and I will not advertise your license. If you want to build an attest practice, this is not the job. Pay $85,000 to $110,000, depending on credential and entity return experience. Season completion bonus, defined in the offer letter. W-2. Not a contract. Training and buildout before the season opens. January 2 through April 15 is the season, Saturdays included. The job does not end April 15. Extensions, notices, and entity work run the rest of the year.
