July 2026 Job Summary Peoples Bank, a community bank based in Cuba, Missouri, is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Teller / Phone Operator to provide exceptional service to customers both in person and over the phone. This position serves as the first point of contact for many customers by accurately processing teller transactions, professionally managing incoming telephone calls, and performing a variety of operational support duties. Due to lower customer traffic at the Washington Street location, this position combines teller responsibilities with phone operations and clerical support. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, enjoy interacting with customers, demonstrate excellent attention to detail, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities while providing outstanding customer service. This position requires working approximately one Saturday per month. Key Responsibilities Teller Responsibilities Provide prompt, accurate, and courteous teller service while creating positive customer experiences. Process customer deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, utility payments, night deposits, and mail deposits. Sell cashier's checks, money orders, and other bank services. Identify customer needs and refer appropriate bank products and services. Respond to customer inquiries and resolve routine service requests. Maintain an accurate cash drawer while following all cash handling and security procedures. Process customer requests including stop payments, address changes, and wire transfer documentation. Follow all bank policies, procedures, compliance requirements, and security standards. Phone Operations Answer incoming telephone calls professionally, courteously, with a smile creating a positive first impression of Peoples Bank. Route calls accurately and efficiently to the appropriate employee or department. Assist customers by taking detailed messages when employees are unavailable. Offer alternative assistance or solutions whenever possible to ensure exceptional customer service. Maintain a friendly, positive, and professional telephone presence with every customer interaction.
Clerical / Other
Duties Coordinate the bank's daily incoming and outgoing mail, including trips to the post office as needed. Maintain mail and supply rooms in an organized manner. Monitor inventory of envelopes, paper, postage, and office supplies, placing orders as needed. Prepare and distribute employee anniversary cards. Coordinate customer birthday card lists and mailings for branch 04. Monitor and process customer address change notifications. Prepare and mail customer notices and other bank correspondence. Complete Social Security Administration (SSA) and Medicare account verification requests. Review loan editing reports to ensure loan documentation matches the bank's core processing system. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the bank's operations and customer service objectives. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous banking, cash handling, retail, customer service, or receptionist experience preferred. Excellent verbal communication and telephone etiquette. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and banking software. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work approximately one Saturday per month. Physical Demands Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting customers. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of computers, telephones, calculators, and other office equipment. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the branch as needed.
