Job Description

A Teller provides service to bank customers by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of customers by referring them to appropriate departments in the bank with a friendly and caring attitude. Essential Functions Greet every person as they enter the branch. Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
Receive checking and savings deposits:
verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back, and issue receipts of deposit. Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
Cash checks:
verify endorsement, receive proper identification, and ensure validity. Identify counterfeit currency. Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved on the teller line. Issue cashier's checks.
Accept loan payments:
verify payment amount and issue receipts. Close accounts when requested. Follow procedures for removing accounts for dormancy. Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks. Process cash advances redeem U.S. Savings Bonds. Maintain appropriate currency logs. Performs other duties as assigned. Competencies Maintain friendly and helpful demeanor with all customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of customer confidentiality and office security. Attention to detail and with a high level of accuracy. Problem recognition and implementation of decisions based on policy and proceduresof the bank. Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Cash handling or sales experience. Customer service experience. Manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. Light work that includes moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. Must be capable of ascending and descending stairs in an emergency.
