Universal Banker II (Teller & Client Relationship Banker) First Bank - 3.4 Santa Barbara, CA Job Details $20.75 - $25.50 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Customer communication High school diploma or GED Full Job Description About This Role The Banking Specialist II (Universal Banker) is responsible for delivering an exceptional client experience while accurately processing financial transactions and supporting branch growth through client engagement and referrals. Approximately 75% of this role is focused on teller and transaction activities, including cash handling, deposits, withdrawals, payments, balancing, and operational support. The remaining 25% is focused on relationship building, client engagement, needs-based conversations, identifying banking opportunities, and referring clients to appropriate products, services, and internal business partners. This position is ideal for candidates with experience as a Teller, Universal Banker, Relationship Banker, Personal Banker, Financial Services Representative, Member Service Representative, or other customer-facing financial services roles. In This Role You Will Client Transactions & Teller Operations (75%) Process a variety of financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, check cashing, cashier's checks, and account servicing transactions. Accurately balance and maintain an assigned cash drawer while adhering to established balancing and cash handling procedures. Follow branch operational procedures, internal controls, security standards, and regulatory requirements. Protect confidential client information and maintain compliance with all bank policies and procedures. Identify potentially fraudulent transactions and escalate concerns appropriately. Support daily branch opening, closing, balancing, and maintenance activities. Resolve routine client issues and provide prompt, professional service. Client Relationships & Business Development (25%) Engage clients through meaningful conversations to understand financial needs and goals. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through appropriate referrals and introductions. Promote and educate clients on consumer banking products and services, including checking accounts, savings accounts, debit cards, credit cards, online banking, mobile banking, CDs, and other bank solutions. Support branch sales and referral goals by connecting clients with mortgage, business banking, wealth management, lending, and other bank partners as appropriate. Educate clients on digital banking tools and self-service capabilities to improve convenience and financial wellness. Participate in branch outreach, client engagement initiatives, and community networking activities when needed. Teamwork & Branch Support Collaborate with branch team members to deliver a consistent and positive client experience. Adapt to changing priorities and business needs in a fast-paced retail banking environment. Maintain knowledge of products, services, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies and Skills Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
One year of customer service, cash handling, retail, banking, or financial services experience preferred. Previous teller, banker, credit union, or retail banking experience strongly preferred.
Customer Service:
Ability to provide a positive client experience and build relationships through professional, friendly service.
Sales & Referrals:
Ability to identify client needs and recommend or refer appropriate banking products and services. Accuracy & Attention to
Detail:
Ability to accurately process financial transactions and balance cash while following established procedures.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with clients and team members.
Technology Skills:
Ability to utilize banking systems and assist clients with online and mobile banking tools.
Problem Solving & Judgment:
Ability to resolve routine client concerns and recognize situations requiring escalation. Compensation Disclosure The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and other internal business and organizational factors. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for remote positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $20.75 - $25.50, per hour.
