Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
  • At least six (6) months of experience as a teller or in a cash handling role, working as a paying and receiving teller/cashier
  • Experience in general accounting and/or bookkeeping and/or banking.
  • Experience cashing personal or payroll checks.
Substitution:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance-related field may substitute for experience requirements.
In this role you will:
  • Receives and verifies agency deposits, issues receipts, processes Texas State Warrants, and ensures customer satisfaction through courteous service while auditing special state funds.
  • Prepares financial statements, operating reports, and internal documents for cash movement, sets up agency deposits for imaging, performs online balancing, manages cash funds, and prepares change orders for state agencies.
  • Reviews and audits financial records for accuracy and compliance with legal and departmental procedures, researching discrepancies and may assist with wholesale and automated lockbox accounts processing.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

SUMMARY OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact. It requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job requires repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain accounting practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers.
